Defibrillator

We have a ZOLL AED Plus defibrillator in the clubhouse for use in an emergency.

The ZOLL AED Plus defibrillator supports rescuers responding to sudden cardiac arrest. The equipment incorporates Real CPR Help® technology which provides real-time audio and visual feedback on CPR compression rate and depth to guide rescuers in performing high-quality CPR.

The defibrillator is available to users of the club and it has also been registered on the National Defibrillator Network (The Circuit) to facilitate use by the general public in an emergency. Our registration explains the limited opening hours of the club and provides the clubhouse telephone number which may be used by a member of the public wishing to access the defibrillator.

The following access statement has been provided as part of our registration with The Circuit.

"The defibrillator is Inside the sailing club clubhouse which is normally locked unless in use by club members. The main gate to the club compound is similarly locked unless in use. Public users should telephone the club on 01766 513546 to check that access is available. The club is frequently open during the summer months (April to September) but is rarely open during winter. There are no fixed hours of opening but someone is more likely to be there between the hours of 10am and 4 pm."

In an emergency involving a suspected sudden cardiac arrest, the rescuer should first ask someone to call 999, then turn on the defibrillator and follow the verbal instructions.

Members can learn how to operate the ZOLL AED Plus defibrillator using the following instructional training video.
