About

The PSC Cruiser Lift-out is scheduled for Saturday 2nd April. We have arranged a contract lift with Bob Francis using a 55-ton crane.

Due to ongoing concerns about gatherings, we will not be holding the usual Skippers Briefing and Safety Meeting. Instead the notes for the briefing are attached. All skippers are required to carefully read through these notes. The order of lifting will be as directed by Bob Francis personnel.

Please be available to help both before and after your boat has been lifted. Help is needed throughout the day.

Please ensure that you:

1. Put out fenders and rig lines fore and aft to control the boat whilst it is in the air. 2. Are aware of the position and lead of strops for your particular boat and rig. Damage arising from wrongly

placed strops is the responsibility of the owner. 3. Check that all logs and sea cocks are in place and secure. 4. Check that your engine will start.

During the lift and for reasons of safety: 1. Each person directly involved must wear a hard hat. Hard hats are available from the clubhouse. 2. Do not ride on the boat whilst it is being craned. 3. Do not stand under any boat being lifted. Exercise extreme caution at all times. 4. Keep fingers from under slings as they tighten. 5. Keep children and dogs away from the Club during the lift. 6. Ensure all ladders are securely tied, at a safe angle, before climbing onto boats.

We will be operating a launch service. Please use VHF channel 37 (M), club phone 01766 513546 or 07932 986 357 (Mike Cooke).

The decision to lift or not lies, with the boat owner. Insurance cover is the responsibility of the owner. Contractual insurance cover from the crane company is limited to £25,000 for the day’s lifting activities.

If you are not able to attend in person to oversee your boat’s lift, please advise in writing the name of your nominated representative who will attend and be responsible for your boat.

As is the club’s normal practice, the cost of the lift will be apportioned between the boats lifting on the basis of the length and beam of your boat, plus the fee for winter storage. The charges are set out in the ‘Store’ on the website.

Paying this way also removes the need for the cumbersome paper contract process, which is now covered during your website payment.

If the weather causes postponement/cancellation or the time taken is excessive because skippers are not available or not well prepared, then the cost will increase for everyone.

Do not park cars inside the club compound on the day until the crane has left the site. If parking in the lane, be mindful that the crane has to pass that way.

PLEASE NOTE : DO NOT park in the area immediately outside our yard as it is not our property.
